Susan Derges
Biography
I was born in London in 1955 and educated at Chelsea School of Art (1973 –76) and at the Slade School of Fine Art (1977 – 79) London.
Travel awards were received to Berlin (DAAD) (1976 – 77) and to Tokyo (1981 – 82) where I subsequently worked for a further 5 years.
I currently live and work on Dartmoor, Devon which has been home, studio and work location for the past 17 years.
I have exhibited within the UK and internationally, working on numerous publications, public commissions and educational projects.
Significant one person exhibitions with publications include:
“Between Sun and Earth” and catalogue, The Photographers Gallery, London (1993)

Also regular one person exhibitions at Paul Kasmin Gallery, New York, Purdy Hicks Gallery, London, Ingleby Gallery, Edinburgh, Nichido Contemporary Art, Tokyo and Joh Yun Gallery Seoul/Busan.
Group exhibitions have been held in Museums and public galleries in the UK, Europe, US, Japan and Korea.
Work is held in numerous public and private collections as well as public commissions within the UK, Europe, US, Japan and Korea
I have recently completed a major public commission for The Eden Project, Corwall, an ecological research center, internationally known for the large biodomes housing tropical rainforest and temperate zones. Further information is included in the following artists statement.
