1964-1966; and San Francisco Art Institute, 1967-1970 (BFA)

COMMISSIONS:
2000 Residency sponsored by the Lannan Foundation to work on
American project.
1999 “Indivisible” sponsored by The Center for Documentary Studies
at Duke University. A photography and oral history documentary about civic engagement in America. The project resulted in a book and several exhibitions.
A documentation project on the production and installation of Martin Puryear’s sculpture on the plaza of the J. Paul Getty Museum. An exhibition of these photographs was held at the museum in November 1999.
“In Response to Place: Photographs from the Nature Conservancy’s Last Great Places” sponsored by the Nature Conservancy. A photographic survey of the High Plateau of Utah. The project resulted in a book and exhibition by the same name.
1998 “Africa” sponsored by Knopf Publishing. A photographic survey of African culture and monuments. Exhibitions of these photographs were held at Edwynn Houk Gallery and the Center for Creative Photography. The book, Wonders of the African World (with text by Henry Louis Gates, Jr.), was published by Knopf in 1999.
