Kofi Annan Awards £50,000 (CHF 100,000) Prix Pictet to Canadian Photographer Benoit Aquin
31/10/2008 – Kofi Annan, Nobel Laureate and Former Secretary General of the United Nations, tonight announced the winner of the inaugural Prix Pictet as Canadian photographer Benoit Aquin at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris. The £50,000 (CHF 100,000) Prix Pictet is the only photography prize to focus on the most important global issue of our time: sustainability. For the Prix Pictet’s inaugural year the focus was on water.

Prix Pictet 2008 Launch
29/04/2008 – Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland, United Nations Special Envoy on Climate Change, gave the keynote address at the launch reception of the Prix Pictet, hosted at Pictet & Cie premises in London. The event drew leading figures of the arts, sustainability and finance sectors. The artist Lucy Orta presented a work that had been commissioned for the launch and in tune with the Prix Pictet' s 2008 theme - water.
