The global award in photography and sustainability

Power

About Power

The theme of the fourth cycle of the Prix Pictet was Power. Power is a paradox, it can be resourceful or destructive, it can save lives or lead to wars. The very same forces that engender despair can also be a source of hope.

French photographer Luc Delahaye was chosen as the overall winner for the fourth edition. The Power tour is currently in full swing with openings in Beirut. Simon Norfolk began to work on the Prix Pictet Commission in Afghanistan in February. The theme of the fifth Prix Pictet will be announced at Les Rencontres d’Arles on 4 July 2013.

The 200 experts from five continents, acting as nominators for the prize recommended over 640 portfolios that were both awe-inspiring and disturbing. The twelve shortlisted artists have made work that uses outstanding photography to raise public awareness of the social and environmental challenges of the new millennium. Their work was brought together for the award at the Saatchi Gallery, London on 10 October 2012. Luc Delahaye was chosen as the overall winner, with Simon Norfolk winning the Commission. Following the London exhibition the Power exhibition is currently midway through an international tour.
