Jiyoon Lee

Jiyoon Lee is an independent curator, writer and advisor specialising in contemporary arts. She has curated numerous high-profile international art exhibitions since 2001 in Europe and East Asia, including Good Morning Mr. Nam June Paik (Korean cultural center, London 2007), Welcome for Choi Jeong Hwa (Wolverhampton Art Museum, 2007) Through the Looking Glass (Asia House, London 2006), Busan Biennale (Korea, 2006) and Seoul Until Now(Charlottenborg, Copenhagen, 2005). In addition to her work as a curator, she has acted as an advisor for various funding bodies, cultural policy centres and APT (Artists Pension Trust). She also heads SUUM, a contemporary curatorial initiative aimed at developing international exhibition projects as well as promoting cultural exchange. She has lectured on Art History and Curatorship at many European and Korean educational institutions, including Ewha Woman's University (Seoul, Korea), Birkbeck College (London, UK) and British Museum/SOAS. Her writing on international contemporary art has been published widely, appearing regularly in numerous international contemporary art magazines. She is currently working on her Ph.D at Courtauld Art Institute on 'Korean and Japan contemporary art in post-1989 era'.
