Jorge Molder

Jorge Molder lives and works in Lisbon where he has been director of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum of Modern Arts since 1990.

Jorge is a prominent representative of the mid generation of Portugese artists and is an outstanding exponent of contemporary photography. His work has been shown internationally since 1977 and his first exhibitions in the UK were in 1998 at the South London Gallery. In 1999 he represented Portugal in the 48th Venice Biennale.

Jorge's work is featured in many important collections throughout the world including: the Art Institute of Chicago, the Everson Museum of Art at Syracuse, New York; the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain, Paris; Centro Portuges de Fotografia, Porto; the Museu de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro; and Museé de Elysée, Lausanne. His work is the subject of numerous books and articles including: 'Luxury Bound, 1999; 'Um Dia Cinzento', 1993; 'Joseph Conrad', 1991; 'The Secret Agent', 1991 and 'Zerlina', 1992.
