Stavros Moresopoulos
Stavros Moresopoulos, b. 1945, Thessaloniki, Greece. Publisher and Editorial Director of the Fotografia magazine (1977) that marked the movement of the New Greek Photography. He has also published and edited many magazines and books. In 1986 he founded the Hellenic Centre for Photography, one of the most active NGOs in contemporary art photography, with major activities among which the institutions of the Athens Photo Festival (former International Month of Photography in Athens) since 1987, the International Photographic Encounters in Patras (2002). Among others he has been founder of the E.S.P. School of Photography (1992), foundation member of the Unesco’s «Vision without Border», member of the Hellenic Ministry’s of Culture committees for the formulation of National Policy for Artistic Photography (1993-95) and (2008-09), and honorary member of the international advisory board of the Fotofest (USA) and the international artistic committee of the «Mois de la Photo a Paris». He is also critic, organizer and curator of a vast number of major exhibitions. He has received two awards for his achievements in the fields of photography and his editorial work from the respective professional associations.
