When the land fails to provide, people turn to the ocean. The men fish with mosquito nets, donated by international governments, that let nothing through. Fish stocks, in consequence, are in rapid decline forcing the fishermen to travel further and further into the Indian Ocean. The men’s ropes are made of sisal from the plantations that dominate the once arable land.
